I work for a place that sells products that are supposed to balance the pH in your body. They also encourage a cleansing and detox regimen (it’s kind of gross). I just wonder if this stuff is for real and if it’s really safe.

I think your gut reaction is correct.
The pH of the body, which is normally referring to the pH of the blood is tightly controlled by the body’s regulatory system of buffers. It can only vary by a couple tenths one way or the other without symptoms of extemely illness. Beyond that, the person dies. An over-the-counter product that has the potential to mess with that would be extremely dangerous.
