I tested the water with test strips for a science project. Found that the tap water at our home has a ph of 5?

earthcitizen29 asked:

If there are no other impurities will fitration increase the ph and what else can be done? Live in a small city in America.

No doubt the water is acidic but filtration won’t increase the pH
to increase the pH you must add some base or simply distill the water and again measure when the surrounding and water temperature is almost 25 degrees.

Are you trying to get ph 7 water (neutral)? If so – go to the store and get distilled water – it is right on 7.

For now – you can increase the PH up to 7 with baking soda.

By the way – tap water with a PH of 5 is normal.
